    2. Paciente especial ? aquel paciente que posee unas caractersticas o condiciones que lo hacen singular frente a lo ordinario y que, por lo tanto, presentan un riesgo probablemente mayor a la hora de una intervencin odontolgica.

    3. Condiciones del paciente especial 1) Existencia de riesgo medico por padecer un proceso importante. 2) Posible interaccin entre el tratamiento dental y el tratamiento especifico de su enfermedad. 3) Dificultad de manejo clnico-odontolgico desde el punto de vista de la conducta y de la tcnica especifica a utilizar. 4) Existencia de lesiones orales caractersticas que hacen ms vulnerable al paciente. (Ej. Llagas)

    4. Estimacin del riesgo: clasificacin de ASA. ASA I: paciente sano. ASA II: enfermedad sistmica sin limitacin funcional. ASA III: enfermedad sistmica grave con limitacin funcional. ASA IV: enfermedad sistmica grave. Riesgo de vida para el paciente. ASA V: paciente moribundo.

    5. PACIENTES ESPECIALES: Cardipatas: hipertensin. Nefrpatas: insuficiencia renal crnica. Hepatopatas: insuficiencia hepatica. Problemas respiratorios: asma. Enfermo tiroideo. Diabetico. Embarazadas, nios y ancianos. Personas deficientes o discapacitado
