Marker development for CTC and blood cells.(A) MDA-MB-468 cells were spiked into PBMC and hybridized with probes to detect epithelial cell marker mRNAs including CK8, CK14, CK17, CK18, CK19, CK20, EpCAM, Muc1, and EGFR. (B) MRC-5 cells were spiked into PBMC and hybridized with probes to detect EMT marker mRNAs, including Twist, N-Cadherin, and Fibronectin. (C) PBMCs showing epithelial or EMT marker mRNAs, including CK5, CK6, and Vimentin. (D) MDA-MB-468 cells were spiked into PBMC and hybridized with a probes to detect CK19 mRNA , CK8, 18, and 19 mRNAs (panCK), or CK8, CK14, CK17, CK18, CK19, CK20, EpCAM, Muc1, EGFR, Twist, N-Cadherin, and Fibronectin mRNAs (panCTC). Cells were counterstained with DAPI (blue).
