  2. John 5:39-40 “You search the Scriptures because you think they give you eternal life. But the Scriptures point to me! Yet you refuse to come to me to receive this life.

  3. History of the Text • They searched the Word • They missed the point of the Word. • They were unwilling to believe in Him of whom the Scriptures testified. • They were unwilling to accept who Moses wrote about

  4. How is it possible to do the same today? • We read that • The Word has the answer to save - Ro 1:16 • The Word of God is living and powerful - He 4:12 • The Word is able to save our souls - Jm 1:21 • The Word is able to make one born again - 1Pe 1:22 • The Word is able to help us grow - 1Pe 2:2

Hebrews 4:1-2 • Therefore, while the promise of entering his rest still stands, let us fear lest any of you should seem to have failed to reach it. 2 For good news came to us just as to them, but the message they heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who listened.

  6. James 1:22 • But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.

  7. Unless we believe and obey the Word of God , it remains insufficient !
