Salvage & Marine Firefighting Requirement, Vessel Response Plans for Oil, Final Rule • OBJECTIVE – Increase pollution response preparedness before an oil • spill occurs, thus mitigating the possible environmental impact • Vessel owners identify risks associated with their vessels • Identify appropriate salvage and marine firefighting services where they trade • Select adequate resource providers considering 15 criteria from the rule • Establish contracts with funding agreements to ensure there is no response delay.
