  1. School of the colonial times By: Christine Denny,Ceyda Gunaydin, Gabrielle Gizzi, and Mylena Lima

  2. Who learns more • The boys Learned more because they believed girls just had to know how to read and write but they had boys go to 2 schools a day.

  3. What books they read • The people in the Dame School read some books. One of the books they read a lot was the bible. They learned to read just to read the bible. Here are some of the books they have. The children in the Dame School have no picture books so they have to read grown up books. Religious books, books all about manners, they read some scary story and pomes about the terrible. That’s all about what books they read in the • Dame School.

  4. What The Schools Were Like • The laws didn’t say that “ the schools had to be comfy” and some schools were not comfy. There was only hard benches to sit on. There was no maps or chalkboards. There was only one room in the entire school, which was freezing cold in the winter. • The only heat was coming from the fireplace. The boys had to go and get wood for the fireplace.

  5. What The Behavior Was In School • If you did not Know a lesson they will call you a dunce so you will have to sit on the dunce stool. If you did not pay attention to the schoolmaster you would have to wear a sign around your neck that said “Idle boy or Idle girl. If you were caught biting your fingernails you would have to wear a sign that said, “Bitefinger baby.”

  6. Now: who learns more Now the girls and the boys learn the same amount and that is a good thing cause if we had the boys learn more I would not be doing this project.

  7. Books we read • The books we read are picture books and chapter books. We do not read bible books of we do not read scary books and pomes about the terrible. The picture books we read are not for grown ups. That’s what books we read.

  8. Today’s School • Today in our school we have the things they didn’t In the past. We have comfy schools, chalkboards, maps, and globes.

  9. Today's behavior in school • Today in our schools the behaviors are different then the past because if we act bad and pick on people, we don’t wear signs we get detention if we do something really bad.
