  7. The Stacks • Stacks are located downstairs • These books can be checked out and taken home.

  8. The Reference Collection • Reference books are on the main (3rd) floor. • These materials cannot be checked out. You may photocopy them or use them in the Library.

  9. Articles – Available online?! (Print them out or save them) • Yes! Find quality articles via our Research Databases. All you need is: • An Internet connection • Your VPN account or activated York ID card • Databases are available: • On-campus • Off-campus • Log in with your VPN account • Or click on the and type library barcode

Journals, Newspapers, & Magazines • To look at a “hard copy”of one of these: • Visit the PERIODICALS DESK • York Library has over 500 current periodical titles in print • To see back issues: • Visit the MICROFORMS ROOM • York Library has 145,000 microforms (journals, magazines, and newspapers)

  11. If York Library doesn’t own it… • Your York ID card will grant you access to other CUNY libraries. You may use it to check out their books. • York Library has borrowing arrangements with: • Other CUNY libraries (CLICS) • Libraries around the country (ILL) • Ask us how to use CLICS, ILL, and other services!

  12. Circulation & Reserve Desk • Activate your York ID card. • This must be done everysemester so you can use the library’s online services. • Check out & return library materials • See if your professor put something on RESERVE and borrow reserved materials.
