  1. 20417 South University, Missouri City, TX 77459 (281) 499- 7214 Texas Child Care Standards: Child/Staff Ratio and Group Sizes The following charts show how many children can be cared for by 1-2 staff persons and how many maximum children can be in a group. Child to staff ratios vary depending on the type of program and the age of the children. The number of children who can be cared for by one staff person is determined by the age of the youngest child in that group. The younger the children, the smaller the number of children who can be cared for by one staff person.
