  4. Jesus Came to Save • Jesus taught regularly in the Temple. • People came to Him. • Truth has authority and power. • Class disrupted!! Leaders brought in “caught” sinner! • She couldn’t be caught alone – it was a setup!

  5. Jesus Came to Save • The Law of Moses was very clear on adultery – death penalty! • What about arrogant legalism and hatred? • They wanted to humiliate her! • They lacked knowledge of God’s mercy!

  6. Jesus Came to Save • They wanted to test Jesus on the Law. • Jesus knew the Law – and that he would redeem life from the Law with forgiveness! • JESUS CAME TO SAVE US! • The Scribes and Pharisees wanted to appear righteous by obedience to the Law. • Writing on the ground?

  7. Jesus Came to Save • Jesus was not at a loss for words. • Jesus wanted them to think about their attitude. • Jesus knew exactly what to say. • Jesus confronted them, and it worked! • Anyone must become humble and admit sin to gain forgiveness.

  8. Jesus Came to Save • The Son of Man will set you free! • Jesus did not approve of her sin, he forgave. • Why the death penalty for sin? • Sin deserves separation from God. • Jesus atoned for our sins and destroys the power of sin over us. • The Truth shames us of sin.

  9. Jesus Came to Save • Jesus came to save our lives! • Jesus came to save our souls! • Jesus came to give us righteousness! • Jesus came to give us Eternal Life!!
