  1. TYPES OF HOME ELEVATORS Presented by: Techno Elevators www.technoelevators.com +91 72288 32623

  2. reallygreatsite.com INTRODUCTION TO HOME ELEVATORS Home elevators are lifts made for private homes. They carry people or items between floors. They improve comfort, safety, and accessibility. Growing in popularity due to the aging population and luxury design.

  3. reallygreatsite.com WHY INSTALL A HOME ELEVATOR? Helpful for elderly or disabled people Makes homes more accessible Saves energy compared to using stairs Increases property value Adds a luxury feature

  4. HOW DO HOME ELEVATORS WORK? Home lifts use a motor to move a cabin up and down. Power systems vary: hydraulic fluid, cables, or air pressure. Controlled by wall switches or touch panels. Safety systems include emergency brakes, alarms, and door locks.

  5. reallygreatsite.com HOW FAST IS A HOME ELEVATOR? Average speed: 20–40 feet per minute (fpm) Slower than commercial elevators for safety Speed depends on the elevator type and number of floors Faster models may go up to 50 fpm

  6. MAIN TYPES OF HOME ELEVATORS The most common types of home elevators: Hydraulic Traction Pneumatic (Vacuum) Cable Drum

  7. HYDRAULIC HOME ELEVATOR? A hydraulic home elevator is a type of lift that uses a hydraulic system (fluid and piston) to move the elevator cab up and down between floors. HOW IT WORKS A hydraulic pump pushes oil into a cylinder. The oil moves a piston, which raises the elevator car. To go down, the system releases pressure, and the car gently lowers. It is powered by an electric motor and controlled by buttons inside and outside the elevator.

  8. FEATURES Smooth and quiet ride Can carry heavy loads (good for wheelchairs, multiple passengers) Often includes a machine room at the bottom for the pump Can operate during power cuts (with backup) SPACE REQUIREMENTS Needs a pit below and machine room nearby More suitable for new buildings or custom- built homes ADVANTAGES Reliable and safe Strong lifting power Smooth start and stop Cost-effective for short buildings (2–4 floors)

  9. TRACTION HOME ELEVATOR A traction home elevator is a type of elevator that uses steel ropes or belts and a counterweight system to move the elevator car. It’s similar to what’s used in commercial buildings but adapted for residential use. HOW IT WORKS The elevator car is attached to steel ropes or belts. These ropes pass over a pulley (sheave) connected to an electric motor. A counterweight moves in the opposite direction of the car. When the motor turns the pulley, the elevator goes up or down.

  10. FEATURES No machine room is needed (can fit into a small shaft). Can travel across multiple floors Quieter and more energy-efficient than hydraulic elevators Often used in modern and space-saving designs SPACE REQUIREMENTS Requires a shaft, but no pit or machine room in many models Good for existing homes with limited space ADVANTAGES Energy-efficient (uses less power going down due to counterweight) No oil or fluids, so cleaner than hydraulic Smooth and fast operation Suitable for homes with 3+ floors

  11. PNEUMATIC (VACUUM) ELEVATORS A pneumatic home elevator (also called a vacuum elevator) uses air pressure to move the elevator cab up and down. It has a modern, tube-shaped design and works without cables, pulleys, or pistons. It is also called- Small Lift For Home HOW IT WORKS The elevator is enclosed in a glass or acrylic cylinder. A vacuum pump removes air from the top of the shaft, creating low pressure. The difference in pressure lifts the cab upward. To go down, air pressure is slowly released, allowing the cab to descend.

  12. FEATURES No pit or machine room required Panoramic glass design – very modern and stylish Typically fits 1–3 passengers Plug-and-play installation in just a few days SPACE REQUIREMENTS Very compact – only a small footprint Can be installed in the corner of a room or through the middle of a staircase No structural wall or shaft needed ADVANTAGES Quick and easy installation Uses less energy than other types Ideal for homes with limited space Minimal maintenance (no oil or cables)

  13. CABLE DRUM ELEVATORS A cable drum elevator is a type of home elevator that uses a steel cable wound around a drum (spool) to raise and lower the elevator car. It is one of the most compact and budget-friendly elevator systems for residential use. HOW IT WORKS A motor turns a drum, which winds or unwinds a steel cable. The cable is connected to the elevator cab. As the drum rotates, the cab moves up or down inside the shaft. A counterweight or braking system ensures safety and balance.

  14. FEATURES Simple design and cost-effective Ideal for homes with 2–3 floors Can be installed with limited structural changes Often machine-room-less (MRL) SPACE REQUIREMENTS Requires a shaft but usually no pit Compact design fits in tight indoor spaces Great for retrofit projects ADVANTAGES Affordable installation and parts Easy to install and maintain Good for low-rise homes Can be installed in existing buildings
