  3. Ho Chi Minh • Vietnam • Communism • Led the fight for Vietnamese independence against the French. (Vietnam was a French colony called Indo-China.)

  5. Harry S. Truman • USA • Democracy • American President who made the decision to drop the Atomic bombs on Japan. This decision started the “nuclear arms race”. • Truman defended South Korea against a communist takeover from the north (Korean War).

  6. Gen. Mac Arthur • USA • Democracy • American general in the Pacific who led counter attacks against Japan in WWII and North Korea in the Korean War. • Mac Arthur was responsible for helping to rebuild Japan after WWII.

  7. Kim Il Sung • North Korea • Communism • Led communist North Korea against South Korea and USA in the Korean War. • Father of Kim Jong Il and grandfather of Kim Jong Un, the current leader of North Korea. Kim Il Sung in 1956 “The Dear Leader”

  8. Fidel Castro • Cuba • Communism • Led communist revolution in Cuba. • He allowed Soviet nuclear missiles on Cuba, which is 90 miles off the coast of Florida.
