  2. Important things about the Ukraine • The Ukraine is located in Eastern Europe. • The language is Ukrainian. • The money is called Hryvnia. • There are 45 million people in the Ukraine. • The capital of the Ukraine is Kiev.

  3. Government • The type of government is Parliamentary Presidential. • The head of government is President Viktor Yanukovych.

  4. Foods in the Ukraine • Borscht (beet soup) • Draniki (potato pancakes) • Paska (Easter bread) • Napoleon Cake

  5. Agriculture • Some agriculture in the Ukraine is wheat, spring and winter barley, corn, sunflower seeds, sugar beets ,fish , cattle and pigs.

  6. Most Important Industry • Metal works, machine building, construction, chemicals, food, and light industry.

  7. Famous Ukrainians Tina Karol is a Ukrainian Pop singer. Her number one song in Ukraine is “Pupsik”. Steven Spielberg is a great movie director. His favorite dish is borsch .

  8. The Flag • The blue represents peace and the sky in the Ukraine. • The yellow represents prosperity and the wheat fields. • The flag was officially adopted in 1992.

  9. Early History • Ukraine was invaded many times due to the treasures found there. Ukraine has a large spot of rich soil that makes growing crops fast and easy. • The U.S.S.R invaded the Ukraine in the year of 1917 and they left in 1991, leaving Ukraine independent. their freedom in the year 1991.

  10. Education in Ukraine • Elementary school’s in the Ukraine take on a lot of the same activities that school have in the U.S. • Things such as acting, music/band, art, society, and politics. • Education in Ukraine is from Pre-K to four years in college.

  11. Recreation • Recreation in the Ukraine is basically soccer, extreme sports, swimming, picnics, and volleyball.
