  1. PICASSO FACESLesson designed by J.S. Anthos, GAGrades 1-5 • Look at Girl Before A Mirror • Elements of Art • LINE, SHAPE, COLOR • Discuss the thought behind the painting • Why is her reflection different

  2. MATERIALS • 12” x 18” white drawing paper • Pencil • Black Sharpie markers • Oil pastels, watercolor, colored pencils, pastels, or crayons

  3. DIRECTIONS • Turn paper horizontal and draw a face shape in the center. It does not have to be round. Add a face to both side of the centered face • Draw a “profile”LINE down the center making 2 side (a profile and frontal view) • Add facial characteristics, eyes, extra nose, mouths, emphasizing SHAPE. • Add hair to connect faces and make it run off the page to create unity • Trace over all lines with black Sharpie

  6. FRACTURED FACESLesson designed by Sue Tellefor grades 1-5 • Draw a self-portrait on 81/2 x 11 paper and trace over it with a Sharpie marker.

  7. FRACTURED FACES • Cut the drawing into 5 pieces following drawn lines • Separate and arrange pieces on paper. Skew to fracture the face • Tape down

  8. FRACTURED FACES • Outline your shapes and extend the lines creating a solid drawing • Teacher make copy on card stock or heavy gauge cope paper

  9. FRACTURED FACES • Add color and pattern with oil pastels
