  2. How does poverty effect the people in Albania • Despite the economy robust in recent years, almost one quarter of the population lives below the poverty level of the us $2 a day. • The poorest of the poor who comprise about 5 percent of the population, struggle to put adequate food on the table each day.

  3. The causes of poverty! The situation of being overpopulated means that people in Albania have less space and live in worse conditions and getting onl around 1.50 a week! In many parts of the world, environmental degradation the deterioration of the natural environment, including the atmosphere, bodies of water, soil, and forests is an important cause of poverty.

  4. What is being done about povertyin albania • We know this from the good quality Living Standard Measurement Surveys (LSMS) that have allowed us to track this path over the decade. The World Bank and others have analyzed the data extensively and disseminated the findings widely to discuss Albania’ s performance. • In addition, a search on Google for the keywords “Albania” and “LSMS” easily brings up a number of interesting papers produced by researchers around the world on a variety of topics of policy relevance. We know much more on a variety of topics ranging from agricultural land to gender wage gaps in Albania than in many of its neighboring countries because these rich databases have been made available for free on the World Bank’ s and the INSTAT’s websites.

  5. Poverty in Albania • Poverty in Albania is widespread due to limited job opportunities, low income and limited access to basic services such as Education, Health, Water and Sewerage. • Under communist Regime, employment was almost total and the Government provided some livelihood for almost everyone. • More than 17 percent lived under the poverty line in 2000, and 90 percent of them live in rural areas.
