  2. Pyrotechnics • is the science of using materials capable of undergoing self-contained and self-sustained exothermic chemical reactions for the production of heat, light, gas, smoke and/or sound. Pyrotechnics include not only the manufacture of fireworks but items such as safety matches, oxygen candles, explosive bolts and fasteners, and components of the automotive airbag.

  3. Requirments • Do the job anywhere • there are no formal education requirements when becoming a Pyrotechnic Technician. To become a Pyrotechnic Technician, a prospective student will have to find a reputable fireworks display company to begin training. Students are subject to classroom and hands-on training and then work as an apprentice for three to six outdoor fireworks shows. Students will then become assistants and will train for one to three years on fireworks shows until they become proficient and are ready for a promotion to a position as a Pyrotechnic Technician.

  4. Wage • (Salary range: $1,000 - $70,000) Before you drool, this is the name you give yourself if you're self-employed and have created your own company. You only make as much as the jobs you are hired to do. If you're not busy, then you might make less than $500 a year. If you're successful, you could make a president's salary.
