  2. How can Utah residents become aware of their driving habits that can greatly improve the quality of the air? Salt Lake City, Utah

  3. Utah air pollution comes from three main sources • Power Plants • Small businesses(gas stations) • Vehicle exhaust

  4. Health effects of Air Pollution • Respiratory problems like Asthma (can even cause health problems for people that are healthy) • Damage to lungs • Cancers • Premature death

  5. Idle-free Ordinance “Turn your key, be idle-free” • No idling for more than 2 minutes • One warning before receiving a fine • Fines increase up to $200 if a repeated offender

  6. How to reduce air pollution • Drive smarter -buy vehicles that are more fuel-efficient like Hybrids or electric cars. -use biodiesel fuel • Carpool -saves money and is more fuel-efficient -having fewer cars on the road will help reduce emissions • Use Public transportation - cheaper, and better for the environment

  7. How to reduce air pollution • Develop a driving plan -plan routes ahead to avoid traffic • Maintain vehicle - regular oil changes, changing air filter and replacing fuel-filter regularly

  8. Conclusion • Locals that become aware of their driving habits will be able to save money on fuel and they will also help the air pollution in the Salt Lake City valley. • Making small changes will help us all live happier healthier lives.
