  2. Jdg 6:24 Then Gideon built an altar there unto the LORD, and called it Jehovahshalom: unto this day it is yet in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.

  3. Look at what they were up against:Judges 21:25 In those days there was no king in Israel: every man did that which was right in his own eyes.

  4. Judges 6:1-4 reveals …1. Hid in caves2. Midianites took all their food, tools, and livestock.3. A time of apostasy

  5. The Definition of Jehovah-Shalom

  6. A. The basic definition of the word “shalom” is a harmony, completeness, wholeness.

  7. D. In its Biblical content then, peace is the state of deep, abiding rightness that results from a harmonious relationship with God.

  8. The Person of Jehovah Is Our Peace

  9. A. Jehovah has a desire to give us His peace. It was the high priestly benediction. (Numbers 6: 23-26)

  10. B. Jehovah abides with those who abide with him.

  11. C. All believers enter a state if peace with God (Romans 5:1)

  12. Jehovah-Jesus is our Jehovah-Shalom

  13. A. Jesus is the supplier of peace to the Christian.

  14. B. The peace of God comes through spiritual mindedness.

  15. 2 Corinthians 12:9 holds the key to having Peace OF God with some key words … “Grace” = khar-ece (divine influence upon the heart reflective in life; gratitude)Root word = khar-ee = cheer, calm, happy

  16. “Sufficient” = ar-keh-o (raising a barrier)Root word = ah-ee-ro (weigh anchor)

  17. “For’ = (the reason for the result)

  18. “Strength” = doo-nam-is (miraculous power)Root word = doo-nam-ahee (to make possible)

  19. “Perfect” = tel-i-oo (complete – growth in mental or moral character)

  20. “In” = eis or ice (indicating a point reached; rest)

  21. “Weakness’ = as-then-i-ah (moral frailty)Root word = as-then-ace (strengthless or impotent)

  22. “Glory” = kow-khah-om-ahee (to boast, vaunt, joy, rejoice)

  23. “Power” = doo-nam-is (miraculous power) Same as “strength” above

  24. “Rest” = ep-ee-stay-no-o (to tent upon; abide)

  25. Read 2 Cor. 12:9 again … My divine influence is weighing an anchor in your life because of my miraculous power that gives you moral character and rest as you admit your moral frailty, and boast in my miraculous ability to give you rest as you abide, or tabernacle with me in your mind and spirit. (Mark’s version)

  26. C. The causes for absence of the peace of God include confusion, pride, lack of love of God’s Word, carnality, and an unthankful spirit.

  27. There is no true peace unless by ChristPsalm 34:18 / Psalm 51:17 / Ps. 85:9
