  1. A Call To Prayer 1 Timothy 2:1-4

  2. 1 Timothy 2:1-4 • 1 First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, 2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way. 3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior, 4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.

  3. The Elevation Of Prayer

  4. “First of all” – Our priority in the church is prayer. • “urge” - (beseech) to call to one's side - to instruct / teach

  5. The Power of Prayer • God has promised to hear prayer. • Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known. Jeremiah 33:3

  6. The Power of Prayer • God has promised to answer prayer • In that day you will ask nothing of me. Truly, truly, I say to you, whatever you ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you. John 16:23

  7. The Power of Prayer • Prayer is the privilege and power of every saint. No one stands higher than you in the area of prayer. • Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need. Hebrews 4:16

  8. The Elevation Of Prayer • The Elements Of Prayer

  9. Supplications • To request or plead with God for something. Not necessarily a “form” of prayer as it is an “attitude” in prayer. • do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6

  10. Prayers • Prayer of faith.

  11. Intercessions • To fall in with. It refers to Christians taking the needs of others before the Lord but it goes beyond simply presenting requests to God on the behalf of others.

  12. Intercessions • Involves presenting requests to God on behalf of the needs of others as a mediator, pleading on their behalf. • Speaks of endurance and persistence (Luke 11:5-8; Luke 18:1-5). • A couple scriptures make reference to Christ, our intercessor (Romans 8:34; Hebrews 7:25).

  13. Giving Of Thanks • When we draw near to God in prayer our hearts should be filled with gratitude for all He is all He has done all He is doing and all He will do.

  14. Giving Of Thanks • Thanksgiving should not be tacked on to the end of our praying but it should be a major ingredient in every prayer we pray.

  15. The Elevation Of Prayer • The Elements Of Prayer • The Extent Of Prayer

  16. We are to pray for all men.

  17. The Elevation Of Prayer • The Elements Of Prayer • The Extent Of Prayer • The End of Prayer

  18. Prayer will produce a life of Godliness in us.
