MTAC Workgroup #87 Improving the Drop Shipment Process May 6, 2004

The MTAC Workgroup #87 convened on May 4, 2004, to address the challenges posed by the new DOT mandated Hours of Service regulations effective January 4, 2004. These regulatory changes have led to delays in off-loading mail, ultimately increasing costs for both the mailing industry and the U.S. Postal Service. The workgroup aims to optimize driver service time through system enhancements, improved mail induction processes, and better management of drop shipment processes. The target completion date for these improvements is October 24, 2004.
