  4. Needed Supplies • American Pageant, 12th edition (text, supplied by NTHS) • United States History: Preparing for the advanced Placement Examination (AMSCO, $18-$20) AMSCO Book • Cost of the Exam – last year was $87

  6. Why Not AP???? • It’s a lot of work • I do a lot of other things during the year • I may not pass the test/I don’t test well • I may be overextending myself • I’m not prepared to make that kind of commitment • It will hurt my GPA

THE EXAM…. • Three hours and five minutes long • 80 multiple choice – 55 minutes • Essay Writing – 115 minutes • 15 minutes for reading DBQ & FRQ’s • 1 Document Based Question (DBQ) • 45 minutes for writing • 2 Free Response Essays • 35 minutes each for writing • Scored on a scale of 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

What is the Credit Benefit? • University of Washington • 4 or 5 will replace 5 credits of a US History 101 course • Eastern Washington University • 3 or 4 will replace 5 credits of a US History 101 • 5 will replace 10 credits of US History 101 & 305 • Washington State University • 3, 4, or 5 will replace 3 history credit hours
