  5. Mental Qualities of Leaders • Quick • Knowledgeable • Good Judgment • Foreseeing

  6. Don’t Mistake These Qualities • Arrogance vs. Confidence • Stubbornness vs. Determination • Wishy-washiness vs. Democratic Decision-making • Inability to Take Action vs. Analysis

  7. Leaders posses one quality critical to their success – good values

  8. What are Values? A set of beliefs and ideas affecting the way people make decisions and conduct themselves.

  9. Ethics and Morals Rules of conduct based on the rightness or wrongness of actions

  10. Effective Leaders Demonstrate Their Values by • talking • explaining • showing

  11. Not All Leaders Are The Same • Leadership styles vary from individual to individual • Finding the correct style is critical to identifying the “right” leader • Identify your needs, and match it with the “right” characteristics

  12. Define your goals A goal is a specific objective you and your team must achieve.

  13. Leaders Are Good Planners A plan is the blueprint for achieving these goals.

  14. Leaders Are Good at Getting The Team Involved Participation allows team members to: • exercise creative ability • apply problem solving skills • increase commitment to achieve the established goals
