  1. Is God Angry

  2. Is God Angry?

  3. Is God Angry? • We are living in a time when people on the East coast are suffering from a terrible storm. • What is the cause of it all? • Some liberals and atheists will blame global warming which has now been exposed as a fabrication. • Some will say, “It is just nature taking its course. • I’m asking the question, “Is God Angry?”

  4. Is it a Warning? • In Amos 3:6-7 we read, “If a trumpet is blown in a city, will not the people be afraid? If there is calamity in a city, will not the LORD have done it? {7} Surely the Lord GOD does nothing, Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.” NKJV.

  5. Is it a Warning? • The Living Bible translates that verse this way, “The alarm has sounded--listen and fear! For I, the Lord, am sending disaster into your land. {7} "But always, first of all, I warn you through my prophets. This I now have done." (Amos 3:6-7 TLB)

  6. God is angry! • (Jer 30:23-24 NKJV) Behold, the whirlwind of the LORD Goes forth with fury, A continuing whirlwind; It will fall violently on the head of the wicked. {24} The fierce anger of the LORD will not return until He has done it, And until He has performed the intents of His heart. In the latter days you will consider it.

  7. God Wants a Response • (Jer 35:17 NKJV) "Therefore thus says the LORD God of hosts, the God of Israel: 'Behold, I will bring on Judah and on all the inhabitants of Jerusalem all the doom that I have pronounced against them; because I have spoken to them but they have not heard, and I have called to them but they have not answered.'"

  8. History is His story, • and we are reminded of Adam and Eve being driven from the Garden of Eden, • We are reminded of the flood of Noah’s Day, • we are reminded of Sodom and Gomorrah, • and a Nineveh that was spared because of a mighty repentance that was led by the King of Nineveh. • Has God changed?

  9. Have you seen the power of God?

  10. In a few hours God changed people’s activities completely. •  Homes and cars that we take for granted were demolished. • Service stations with long lines, or no power, or no gas. • Homes not destroyed are without heat and without power.

  11. Will God punish the righteous with the wicked?

  12. It was a question of Abraham a long time ago. • (Gen 18:22-25 NKJV) Then the men turned away from there and went toward Sodom, but Abraham still stood before the LORD. {23} And Abraham came near and said, "Would You also destroy the righteous with the wicked? {24} "Suppose there were fifty righteous within the city; would You also destroy the place and not spare it for the fifty righteous that were in it?

  13. It was a question of Abraham a long time ago. •  (Gen 18:22-25 NKJV) {25} "Far be it from You to do such a thing as this, to slay the righteous with the wicked, so that the righteous should be as the wicked; far be it from You! Shall not the Judge of all the earth do right?"

  14. God made special provisions to save Lot and his family. • (Gen 19:15-17 NKJV) When the morning dawned, the angels urged Lot to hurry, saying, "Arise, take your wife and your two daughters who are here, lest you be consumed in the punishment of the city." {16} And while he lingered, the men took hold of his hand, his wife's hand, and the hands of his two daughters, the LORD being merciful to him, and they brought him out and set him outside the city.

  15. God made special provisions to save Lot and his family. •  (Gen 19:15-17 NKJV) {17} So it came to pass, when they had brought them outside, that he said, "Escape for your life! Do not look behind you nor stay anywhere in the plain. Escape to the mountains, lest you be destroyed."

  16. “But what about Dan? He lives in New Jersey!” We called Dan’s dad, Lee, who answered the phone in Dan’s house. Dan was returning home form Israel. God spared Dan’s home. They only got some rain.

  17. Our God is One Who can deliver.

  18. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego (Dan 3:12-18 NKJV) "There are certain Jews whom you have set over the affairs of the province of Babylon: Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego; these men, O king, have not paid due regard to you. They do not serve your gods or worship the gold image which you have set up." {13} Then Nebuchadnezzar, in rage and fury, gave the command to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego.

  19. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego (Dan 3:12-18 NKJV) So they brought these men before the king. {14} Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying to them, "Is it true, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the gold image which I have set up? {15} "Now if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn, flute, harp, lyre, and psaltery, in symphony with all kinds of music,

  20. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego (Dan 3:12-18 NKJV) and you fall down and worship the image which I have made, good! But if you do not worship, you shall be cast immediately into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you from my hands?" {16} Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego answered and said to the king, "O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter.

  21. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego (Dan 3:12-18 NKJV) {17} "If that is the case, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. {18} "But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up."

  22. Nebuchadnezzar is furious (Dan 3:19-29 NKJV) Then Nebuchadnezzar was full of fury, and the expression on his face changed toward Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego. He spoke and commanded that they heat the furnace seven times more than it was usually heated. {20} And he commanded certain mighty men of valor who were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, and cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

  23. Nebuchadnezzar is furious • (Dan 3:19-29 NKJV) {21} Then these men were bound in their coats, their trousers, their turbans, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. {22} Therefore, because the king's command was urgent, and the furnace exceedingly hot, the flame of the fire killed those men who took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego.

  24. God intervenes! • (Dan 3:19-29 NKJV). {23} And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace. {24} Then King Nebuchadnezzar was astonished; and he rose in haste and spoke, saying to his counselors, "Did we not cast three men bound into the midst of the fire?" They answered and said to the king, "True, O king.”

  25. God intervenes! • (Dan 3:19-29 NKJV). {25} "Look!" he answered, "I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire; and they are not hurt, and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God." {26} Then Nebuchadnezzar went near the mouth of the burning fiery furnace and spoke, saying, "Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, servants of the Most High God, come out, and come here." Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego came from the midst of the fire.

  26. God intervenes! • (Dan 3:19-29 NKJV). {27} And the satraps, administrators, governors, and the king's counselors gathered together, and they saw these men on whose bodies the fire had no power; the hair of their head was not singed nor were their garments affected, and the smell of fire was not on them.

  27. God intervenes! • (Dan 3:19-29 NKJV). {28} Nebuchadnezzar spoke, saying, "Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego, who sent His Angel and delivered His servants who trusted in Him, and they have frustrated the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they should not serve nor worship any god except their own God!

  28. God intervenes! • (Dan 3:19-29 NKJV). {29} "Therefore I make a decree that any people, nation, or language which speaks anything amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made an ash heap; because there is no other God who can deliver like this."

  29. Daniel was thrown to the lions. • (Dan 6:16 NKJV) So the king gave the command, and they brought Daniel and cast him into the den of lions. But the king spoke, saying to Daniel, "Your God, whom you serve continually, He will deliver you."

  30. Sometimes He does not deliver.

  31. Hebrews 11 is a chapter of faith and God’s deliverance. Even so, not all were delivered • (Heb 11:36-40 NKJV) Still others had trial of mockings and scourgings, yes, and of chains and imprisonment. {37} They were stoned, they were sawn in two, were tempted, were slain with the sword. They wandered about in sheepskins and goatskins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented; {38} of whom the world was not worthy. They wandered in deserts and mountains, in dens and caves of the earth.

  32. Hebrews 11 is a chapter of faith and God’s deliverance. Even so, not all were delivered • (Heb 11:36-40 NKJV) {39} And all these, having obtained a good testimony through faith, did not receive the promise, {40} God having provided something better for us, that they should not be made perfect apart from us.

  33. God is in control. • Evolution denies God: we must praise and honor Him. • Global warming is a fraud that seeks to ignore God. • We need to honor and acknowledge God in all we do.

  34. Remember and Honor God! • (Heb 12:1-3 NKJV) Therefore we also, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us,

  35. Remember and Honor God! • (Heb 12:1-3 NKJV {2} looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. {3} For consider Him who endured such hostility from sinners against Himself, lest you become weary and discouraged in your souls.

  36. How do we respond to the storms of the east coast? • Pray for the victims and help as we have opportunity. • Thank God for our safety and protection. • Let it serve as a reminder that God is an awesome God. • He is coming back in judgment and we need to understand how powerless man is before God. • He sent His Son to pay the penalty of our sin.

  37. He sent His Son to pay the penalty of our sin. • (Isa 53:12 NKJV) Therefore I will divide Him a portion with the great, And He shall divide the spoil with the strong, Because He poured out His soul unto death, And He was numbered with the transgressors, And He bore the sin of many, And made intercession for the transgressors.
