  2. STATE LANGUAGE SCHOOLS LANGUAGES TAUGHT - All the official ones in Spain. - Fourteen languages of the European Union. - Arabian, Chinese, Russian and Japanese MOST POPULAR LANGUAGES - German, French, English and Italian. - Recently: Arabian, Chinese and Portuguese.

  3. Its 100th anniversary was in 2011 First site, in Madrid, of the State School of Languages and a French class during its first years. (to see the video of Centenary’s conference)

  4. From the 60s on, the number of schools increased at a spectacular rate

  5. Current number of State Language Schools distributed in the different /per autonomous comunities

  6. TEACHERS Civil servants who have passed a specific set of aptitude tests for teaching modern languages before an examining board.

  7. CURRICULUM • Specific for the schools • Adapted to the levels of the Common European Framework. • Consisting of three levels: • Basic (A2) • Intermediate (B1) • Advanced (B2) • In process: development and implementation of levels C1 and C2 of the European Council.
