  8. Online Learning Activities: Integration Strategies Types of projects which help address a variety of classroom needs: • Support for student research • Practice for information literacy • Visual learning problems and solutions • Development of collaboration skills • Multicultural experience

Online Learning Activities: Support Many websites perform several functions to support online activities: • Project overview, application, and announcement • Sites that introduce the goals and purposes of existing projects • Tutorial instructions • Information summaries and exchanges • Communication and support • Sites that serve as a virtual meeting place, supporting students’ communications • Displaying of past and current student work • Project development centers • Sites designed for the specific purpose of inviting new distance learning projects

Developing Online Lessons:Images, Programs, and Plug-ins Need to download Images, programs, and plug-ins? • Images • Numerous resources • Either GIF or JPEG format • Programs and plug-ins • PDF reader, (Adobe Reader) • Screening video and audio, movie player (QuickTime), and animation (Adobe Flash) plug-ins Flickr

  14. Developing Online Lessons:Procedures • Storyboard • Select a web authoring tool • Software program (Dreamweaver) or language program (HTML) • Develop pages • Upload • In-house web server, or a web hosting location • Usually using an FTP program

  15. Developing Online Lessons: Recommendations • Limit sharing personal information • Pictures, telephone numbers, etc. • Limit photos and large graphics • Take too much time to load • Consider your own domain name • Simple to remember • Inexpensive: Google.com, Godaddy.com and many more
