  1. 1. De ce ades` mi-e dat pe cale Să-ndur dureri în fel şi fel; De ce-s lipsit adesea oare? Eu nu-nţeleg, dar ştie El ! 2. Din pâinea mea am dat altora Făr`să mă tem că mă înşel, Răsplata? M-am ales cu piatra. De ce-i aşa? O ştie El !

  2. 3. Când moartea luptă pe-ndelete Să rupă-al dragostei inel, Rămâncopiisărmanipedrumuri. De ce-i aşa? O ştie El ! 4. Când m-am luptat cu valul vieţii Şi când era s-ajung la ţel, Mă văd cu barca sfărâmată, De ce-i aşa? O ştie El !
