  1. High Energy Physics Intergrid Coordination Ruth Pordes D0 Grid Workshop Feb 11th, 2002

  2. HENP Intergrid Coordination Initiative –its early days.. • Mechanism for Intercontinental coordination across High Energy and Nuclear Physics Grids (experiments and projects). • InterGrid Coordination Board (HICB) • representatives of computing management of experiments and grid projects – “self selected” • meetings co-located with GGFs - single day, February 17th in Toronto will be 4th in the series. Typically around 25 attendees. • Joint Technical Board (JTB) • technical representatives of Grid projects – initial selection 2 Asia, 6 EU, 6 US • Monthly phone conferences – 3 so far. • All members have “day jobs”. • Common Projects and Task Forces to address needs in specific technical areas: Call for Testbed Proposals generated six submissions Ruth Pordes D0 Grid Workshop Feb 11th, 2002

  3. Participants in typical HICB meeting Joint Technical Board Ruth Pordes D0 Grid Workshop Feb 11th, 2002

  4. HEP Experiment TestBed proposals: ALICE – distribute Alien for simulation production for Spring 2002. ATLAS – transatlantic tests tied to Data Challenge 1 in Mar 2002 and Data Challenge 2 in July 2002 CMS – transatlantic test tied towards simulation production using Grid services. US goal for Spring 2002; CMS goal for Fall 2002?? D0 – SAM in use for archiving of distributed simulation production and distributed caching data from tape for analysis. BaBar – distributed job production using EDG components Recent LISHEP Grid Workshop brought positive input and interest from Brazil to joint Grid work. HICB/JTB TestBed Plans Ruth Pordes D0 Grid Workshop Feb 11th, 2002

  5. Grid Reference Intercontinental TestBed Iterative bottom up tests of components and layers to be sure of interoperability: Authentication and Authorization (a theme here!) Resource discovery and job scheduling and compatability from different packaging and distributions sites must interoperate: EU will download EDG Software 1.x releases, US will download VDT 1.x or independent Globus/Condor/GDMP components. EDG, DataTAG, IVDGL, ? Are committing manpower to this – Goal to prevent diverge across the continents…. Ruth Pordes D0 Grid Workshop Feb 11th, 2002

  6. (Ultimately) Standards are Going to be Essential Internet2 HENP Working Group Global Grid Forum Web services standards IETF There is a lot of work and learning to do until then.. D0 real life experience is being invaluable There is hopefully a commitment to interoperable Grids by all Ruth Pordes D0 Grid Workshop Feb 11th, 2002
