  1. Something that Lasts • {1 Corinthians 9:25} Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last; but we do it to get a crown that will last forever.

  2. Trusting God • (Proverbs 3:5-6) Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; {6} in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. • (Proverbs 16:20) …blessed is he who trusts in the LORD. • (Proverbs 28:25) ...he who trusts in the LORD will prosper. • (Proverbs 29:25) Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is keptsafe.

  3. Which Question are you asking? • How can I take control of this situation? • Should I try to control this situation – or trust God?

  4. Your Reputation • Immorality (Proverbs 5:8-14) Keep to a path far from her (the adulteress), do not go near the door of her house… {11} At the end of your life you will groan, when your flesh and body are spent. {12} You will say… {14} I have come to the brink of utter ruin in the midst of the whole assembly.“ • Slander (Proverbs 25:9-10) …do not betray another man's confidence, {10} or he who hears it may shame you and you will never lose your bad reputation. • Good Reputation(Proverbs 26:2) Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest.

  5. Old and Young is good • (1 John 2:14) I write to you, fathers, because you have known him who is from the beginning. I write to you, young men, because you are strong, and the word of God lives in you, and you have overcome the evil one.

  6. The Making of a Godly Legacy • STAGE 1 - FAITHFUL PARENTING (Proverbs 22:6) Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. • STAGE 2 – LEARNING RESPECT (Proverbs 30:11) "There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers; • STAGE 3 – MAKING GODLY CHOICES (Proverbs 23:19) Listen, my son, and be wise, and keep your heart on the right path. • STAGE 4 – HUMILITY TO KEEP LEARNING (Proverbs 23:22-24) Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. {23} Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding. {24} The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him.

  7. Legacy: What to leave behind • Our Righteousness brings family stability (Proverbs 12:7) Wicked men are overthrown and are no more, but the house of the righteous stands firm. • Our Worship brings family security (Proverbs 14:26) He who fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge. • Honesty and contentment avoids family trouble (Proverbs 15:27) A greedy man brings trouble to his family, but he who hates bribes will live. • Righteous living brings blessing to your children (Proverbs 20:7) The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.
