  4. T. REX The Tyrannosaurus Rex lived throughout what is now Western North America. Fossils of the T. Rex have been found in a variety of rock formations in this region. Of these fossils, more than 30 are complete skeleton fossils. These fossils date back to approximately 65 million years ago in the Cretaceous Period. The Tyrannosaurus Rex was a bipedal carnivore which means it walked on its two hind legs and ate meat. The hind limbs were large and powerful. Dr Phil Manning, from Manchester Museum, University of Manchester, first discovered a footprint of the T.Rex in the badlands of Montana, USA, in 2006. It had a massive skull which was balanced by a long, heavy tail. The T. Rex was the largest land predators on Earth measuring up to 13 metres in length, 4 metres tall, and 7.5 tons in weight. http://amirenglishclub.synthasite.com/

  5. True / FalseIf False, explain why! • The T. Rex lived in Northwest Africa. • Only 30 fossils of this dinosaur have been found. • T. Rex lived on the Earth 65 million years ago. • It had a small tail. • This dinosaur stood on its two back legs. • It only ate vegetables. • The first T. Rex footprint was discovered in Manchester. http://amirenglishclub.synthasite.com/

  6. Comprehension Check • How big was the T. Rex? • Why did this dinosaur have a long, heavy tail? • What did the T. Rex eat? • Why do you think this dinosaur had a massive skull? • Which geological period did the T. Rex belong to? • Who discovered the first T. Rex footprint? http://amirenglishclub.synthasite.com/
