  1. World Water Day Presentation By Emma Formosa 5x

  2. Whywaterisimportant? • Water is important to us, to plants and animals. • Without water we will be dehydrated. Millions of people in Africa die of thirst and hunger.

  3. { Fact! } • Do you know that in the Sahara desert in Africa is very hot that the water looms in few seconds?

  4. A drought in Malta • During the years 1837-1846 there was a serious drought in Malta, this drought not only did damage to the cultivated fields which made many families poor but also caused a large problem due to the shortage of water to the people who hadn’t wells and used public ones.

  5. What did the governmentmake? • In 1851 the government addressed this problem by cleaning the wells. In 1890 pipes were passed to these wells fro Fawwara and 4 pumps were attached to the wells for sanitation purposes.

  6. When wasting water • Water is one of the earth’s most valuable resources, and conservation of water is necessary as water transportation and treatment requires large amounts of energy with the consequent impact on the environment that arises from this.  By saving water you can also help protect wildlife that live in rivers and wetlands as the more water that is used in our homes, the less there is available in rivers, lakes and wetlands.  For example, when water levels in rivers fall, food sources for birds can be lost, and oxygen levels can fall dangerously low for fish.  In 2005, groundwater levels were lower than they have been for 20 years.

  7. The important thing • When it comes to getting clean water at home, most of us turn on the tap and don't give it a second thought. But for nearly one billion people, finding clean water is a daily struggle. Lack of access in their homes or their community can cause a multitude of health, economic, and quality of life problems. For those of us fortunate enough to have clean water access, it's more important than ever to help conserve this important resource.
