Homeless Symposium 2013 • Very high interest in maintaining the spotlight on this work • Clear purpose, facility and location received high remarks • Real life story from Victoria Harris, Connection Homeless Shelter - North Platte • Major take away - Update the states 10-year plan to end homelessness • 2012 to 2013 revealed 18% reduction, but 3,145 persons still identified as homeless

  4. Current Needs/Trends • Affordable rental housing • Mix use/rental rate • Decentralized • Ties into the surrounding community • Green and energy efficient • Housing Re-entry persons • Housing and service related programs unique to respective community needs

What Are We Doing To Meet the Need? • Areas of Emphasis • Work with communities, service providers and other interested parties to address housing needs of the most vulnerable • Harness collaborative efforts and increase partnerships • Enhance awareness of HUD programs and services • Change the perception of Affordable Housing
