  2. Practical Approaches to Implementation • 1. Learning Scenario Approach • Write scenarios that would supplement “missing” standard(s) • Write scenarios that would fit the theme/topic of the unit and hope to cover missing standard(s) • Write scenarios as your wrap-up activity

  3. 2. Thematic Unit Approach • Write thematic units that incorporate all the standards • A scenario may be a part of unit • A unit may be made up of a series of scenarios 3. Single Standard-Single Activity Approach (“Mini Scenario Approach”) • Write activities that targets at least one missing standard • Each activity may (and will hopefully) incorporate more than one standard

Leaning Scenario ApproachLesson Plan Targeted Standards: Scenario: Topic: Objectives: Skills: Vocabulary/structures: Materials: Procedure: (Homework, Activity) Goals (to be achieved by the students): Strengths: Real world-like experience; multiple standards Weaknesses: Difficult to plan; cumbersome to prepare

Unit objectives (four skills) and culture/knowledge Strengths: Thorough coverage of standards Weaknesses: Having to create all activities; time consuming
