PROBLEM Cruz Azul Lagunas Oaxaca calcining line shows severe pre-heater build-up as well as extensive ring formation in Kiln No.4 A solution is urgently needed to avoid an unscheduled kiln stoppage SOLUTION Pre-heater and main burner Injection of a mix of Adi3tek® and 5% pet coke is recommended to eliminate build up and block ring formation in Cruz Azul Lagunas calcining line RESULTS Pre-heater build-up and ring formation are blocked in a 72 hour period approximately. A decrease in raw meal SO3 content as well as a corresponding clinker SO3 increase are observed A disturbing vibration problem at Tire No.1 caused by material accumulation inside the kiln was eliminated An 8-10% clinker production increase as well as significant calcining line stability are achieved False air entrance to the preheater is notably reduced. Preheater cleaning cycles are reduced from 2.5 h/shift to 15 minutes for inspection only The use of Woma pump to dislodge pre-heater build-up is eliminated. NEXT STEPS Cruz Azul Lagunas is pleased with the results. The use of pet coke with higher (6.5%) Sulfur content in Kiln No. 4 is planned for June 15, 2012. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
