Our patient has a heart rate of 85bpm. The EDV was determined to be 120 mL with an ESV of 30mL. What is the cardiac output? - 1st we must determine the SV, which is 120 mL – 30 mL = 90 mL -2nd So the cardiac output is = SV of 90 mL x 85bpm = 7650 mL - 3rd Since 7650 mL is such a large number, let’s change it into liters, which is 7.65 L. FORMULAS WE NEED TO KNOW 1st SV = EDV-ESV 2nd CO = SV x bpm 3rd Change mL into L = 1L/1000 mL
