  4. AT THE AIRPORT • Welcome to Heathrow Airport, one of the biggest European airport! • Here there are just a few of the numerous English words you need to know if you want to get out of the airport and visit the rest of London…

  5. Airport vocabulary: • Hand baggage- A small baggage that you can take with you in the plane • Passport control- A desk where everybody must show his/her identity card • Customs- the place where your bags are checked for illegal goods when you go into a country • arrivals hall- that particular space where the passengers who get off the plane can stay ; • Baggage reclaim area-the place at an airport where you collect your cases and bags after a flight • To check-in - • Information desk- • Cash dispenser-

  8. Sentences and expressions using the new vocabulary • Excuse me, is this your hand baggage? • You should get to the airport in time for the passport control. • You must go through The Customs,please! • In the arrival hall, some of the passengers are a bit confused because of the airsickness.

What you do at the airport • When you arrive at the airport, you go into the terminal building. • You check in for your flight at thecheck-in desk. • You show your passport at passport control and then • go through security, where they check that you are not carrying any weapons. • If you have time you can wait for your flight in the departure lounge.

  10. what you do at the airport(2) • When your flight is called, you go through the departure gate in order to get onto the plane. • The plane then takes off from the runway. • After your plane has landed, you go to the baggage reclaim to collect your bags, • then go throughcustoms and immigration, where they check your passport and your bags. • You then go out into the arrivals area.

  14. Evaluation 4 (5 points) • Write a short story of an incident that happened at the airport and you witnessed. It can be real or imaginary. • Use ALL the words given in the vocabulary slides (5-6-7). • The story must be organized in paragraphs (introductory, main body, ending) and must be of at least one page A4, fonts of 14 Times New Roman.
