  1. WHAT IS SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMIZATION? Search engine optimization (SEO) is the art and science of getting pages to rank higher in search engines such as Google. Because search is one of the main ways in which people discover content online, ranking higher in search engines can lead to an increase in traffic to a website.

  2. WHAT ARE ON-PAGE SEO CHECKLIST? TITLE Meta title of the page as it appears in search results. An optimal title tag is 60 characters or less and contains the keyword you’re targeting. The meta description is the description of your page that appears under the title on the SERP. • Keep it between 155-160 characters. HEADINGS- H1> is the title of the page; you should have only one H1 per page. META DESCRIPTION

  3. URL • Contain the keyword you’re targeting • Use dashes instead of spaces • Keep it short. The keyword itself will suffice in almost all cases. Two types of links involved in on-page SEO—internal links and external links (also called backlinks) LINKS

  4. KEYWORD RESEARCH Use keyword research tools to find keywords with decent volume and low competition. • Brainstorm “seed” keywords • See what keywords your competitors rank for. CONTENT FRESHNESS Update or add new information. Add links to new content and fix any broken links.

CONTENT QUALITY • Google defines thin content as inauthentic and providing little value—like auto-generated copy • Trustworthy: information is accurate and delivers on the promise of the headline. KEYWORD PLACEMENT keywords should be used naturally throughout the content, but they should also be included in the headings and tags, including the H1 and H2 tags, the title, the meta tags, and the meta description.
