  3. In English, we write! This year your student will be writing… • short story • descriptive essay • compare-contrast essay • research paper • personal narrative • poetry • persuasive essay • how-to essay • responses to literature

  4. In English, we learn conventions! This year your student will learn… • parts of speech • comma usage • sentence types • how to write effective sentences • appropriate punctuation usage

  5. Tutorial Schedule • Tuesday and Wednesday • Mornings 8:10-8:30 AM • Afternoons: 3:50-4:15 PM • Or by appointment on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays

  6. Weekly Activities • Weekly Writer’s Secret • Writer’s Notebook • Word Wall Stem Vocabulary • Vocabulary Rings • Vocabulary Test

  7. Spelling Your student will have spelling words every six weeks (except for this one). They will be required to complete assigned spelling activities and there will be a test. There will only be 20 words each six weeks.
