  2. Traveling to the US is a dream for almost everyone, whether it is for educational purposes, work purposes, or simply tourism. The US is a huge country with a lot to do and a lot to explore. It has some of the top-tier universities and high-end IT companies that make it a techy paradise. However, as in the case of other countries, getting into the US is a tedious process because of the US visa application and all its requirements. • The US Visa application is a long process that takes a lot of documentation. The interview is also very strict and sometimes, people get rejected because of incorrect documents. Here is everything you need to know about the US visa and the US visa application.

  3. The US Visa required documents: • An online DS-160 nonimmigrant application form. • A valid passport that must be valid for 6 months or more after your arrival date in the US. Some countries such as Costa Rica, Canada, etc. only need a passport that is valid during the duration of their stay. The passport also needs to have at least 2 blank pages.

  4. One passport size photograph that can either be uploaded through the DS-160 form online or submitted on the day of the US visa interview. • Receipt of payment of $160 for a non-immigrant US visa application. In order to schedule the visa interview, you need to pay the application fee ahead of time. The US visa fee is non-refundable regardless of whether your application is approved or rejected.

  5. Previous US visa. If you have visited the US before with an old passport, then you are required to take the passport with you on the day of the interview at the embassy or consulate. The US requires that you prove that you have entered the country previously. • Your travel itinerary. Why you are going to the US and what you will be doing there is included in the travel itinerary. You also have to submit proof of accommodation whether it’s a hotel, a friend’s house, a relative’s house, etc.

  6. Proof of funds. You need to be able to prove that you have the funds necessary to spend time in the US and take care of your day to day expenses. Some documents that are required to show proof of funds are an employment letter, payslips from the last 6 months, bank statements from the last 6 months, and any other proof that is relevant. • If you are planning on studying or working in the US, you need authorization from a medical professional. You need to take some vaccinations and do some blood tests, chest x-rays, etc. to prove that you are physically fit.

  7. Remember that the US is a very expensive place and you should budget everything before traveling there.
