Tips for winning scholarships • Where Does Youth Apply for Funding? • Generally before doing anything, you should also speak with your supervisor, departmental graduate advisor and your peers about the various awards programs open to students in your particular field of study. There are trained professionals who are there to support you for you upcoming years. • Tips • There are various agencies to whom have specific program guidelines. If you face any problems about your eligibility, contact the agency’s website. If you still have questions, contact the program officer located at the funding agency. • Find out when the deadline is, and give yourself plenty of time. Having a lot of time helps you with decisions and give you time to think. Reviewers can spot a “rush job”. Be sure that your application and all supporting documents (e.g., transcripts, letters of support) are received by the funding agency before the competition deadline.

Tips for winning scholarships • Applicants are generally viewed amount three different criteria’s. • Achievements and Activities — Reviewers will document your publications, presentations, research prizes and awards. They will then review your achievements relative to their expectations for someone at your stage of training. • Academic Performance — Undergraduate and graduate transcripts (if available) will be evaluated. Reviewers tend to give credit for steadily improving or consistently good performance. • Characteristics and Abilities —Generally your personal attitudes will be assessed based on reports provided by referees and evaluators. Qualities that should be emphasized in your letters of support should include: critical thinking; independance; perseverance; originallity; time management skills, interpersonal and leadership abilities; interest in discovery; and research ability or potential.

If your looking at some of the best school but your grade point average is below expectations, Universities and Colleges will not accept you no matter how good you are at the certain sport. It’s essential to have a good balance between sports and school. It’s very beneficial in the end.

Be succinct. Avoid ambiguities. Check spelling. Be sure to make it easy to read. • Ask your supervisor and peers to critically review your proposal. More opinions the better. • Spend time on the application. Make sure it is complete. • Above all, don't get discouraged. Make the strongest case you can and keep trying. Always keep doing your personal best and keep being confident no matter what.
