Preparing Students for the WASL Writing Test

This resource focuses on effective strategies to prepare students for the WASL Writing Test. Teachers Holly Van Eaton, Abbey Crooks, and Mary Beth Crowder-Meier lead the initiative by breaking down writing prompts, emphasizing prewriting and organization techniques, and utilizing graphic organizers like "Bang Bang Bongo." They also develop a writing rubric using the "Cheeseburger Rubric" concept based on the 6 Traits of Writing. The aim is to enhance students' writing skills through clear guidelines and collaborative assessment, ensuring readied engagement for various writing tasks.
