  3. Belize has lots of beautiful beaches on the coasts. This is the national flag of Belize. This is the Belize Parliament House in Belmopan.

  4. Authors • Zee Edgell has written Beka Lamb which is a novel. • Emory King has written a historical fiction book, titled Emory King’s Drivers’ Guide to Belize. • Evan X Hyde wrote the sattire, Knocking Our Own Ting.

  5. Government • Belize has parliamentary democracy for their government. This means that the people of Belize have a right to vote. They do not have a choice of who is the nominal head of state is, but they do get to choose who represents them, which is the prime minister. The prime minister can be changed often.

  7. Culture • They are influenced from the Mayan people. • It is not uncommon for people to greet one another out in public, even though they could be complete strangers. • The people of Belize are very superstitious.

  9. History • Belize was originally based off of ancient Mayan civilization in 1500 B.C-A.D 200 and thrived until about A.D 1200. • The first Europeans arrived by shipwreck in 1638. • The settlers elected higher authorities to settle common law as early as 1738.

  10. Geography/Topography • Doyle’s Delight: Highest mountain in Belize reaching 1124 meters tall. • Altun-Ha Pyramid: This pyramid is important as a trading center and used as a link to the coast and the settlements. • Belize Barrier Reef: This reef is 186 miles long.

  11. Food • Rice with fried chicken or sweet beef. • Tacos and tamales. • Bananas, mangoes, papayas, pineapples and melons.
