  11. How to infringe on a Patent. Physical Property - You must “step on” someone’s physical property to “encroach” on it. Intellectual Property (Patent) – Your invention must “read on” (step on) all the elements of at least one independent claim in order to “infringe” (encroach) on someone’s else’s patent. If your invention does not infringe on any of their independent claims, you do not infringe on their entire patent. Patents
