HISTORY OF NANAIMO: COAL MINING Coal Tyee Elementary School was named after Chief Coal Tyee. Coal Mining was very important in Nanaimo. People could earn money working in the mines.
PARKS IN NANAIMO Beban Park is one of Nanaimo’s biggest parks. It has a swimming pool and ice rink. You can race BMX bikes at the BMX track. Some kids enjoy the really great playground. It is an amazing park.
EVENTS IN NANAIMO Bathtub races are wet for the drivers! The races happen every year. They were started by Frank Ney.
The Important thing about Nanaimo is that it has a great school called Coal Tyee!!!
