  1. Connecticut State Spotlight 2013 Cohort

  2. What We Have Accomplished • Linking all educator prep reform initiatives –EPAC, NTEP, CEEDAR – with other major state initiatives to create coherence across all • Connecting need for all new teachers to be able to provide explicit instruction, interventions and supports for struggling learners in CCR, goal of argumentation, SRBI / MTSS

  3. One Initiative We Have Been Working On • Communication of state priority of increasing rigor and readiness for “day 1” of teaching to lead to improved P-12 student learning (CCR) and supports • Professional Development Institutes for IHE Faculty on Evidence Based Practices in Literacy and Writing

  4. How Are We Accomplishing our Goal • 3 IHE Faculty Workgroups—CCSU, SCSU and USJ – engaging in analysis of planned program curricula to identify gaps, redundancies and priorities in EBP in literacy/writing

  5. Take Aways • Do not underestimate the time needed to reach goal. • Revisit timeline every six months for a reality check on how that timeline is affected by institutional contexts and organizational changes.

  6. Our Next Steps • Measure impact of curricula in 2017 • Scale up in 2017 • More directed TA with IHE workgroups to achieve goal of new curricula drafted by Jan 2016 and implemented in Fall 2016
