CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2011 Thomas Mayburry Heart of Hospitality Scholarship Wine Auction and Fundraiser, February, 2011 Raised $1,135 for the Scholarship Monthly Raffle 50% to Scholarship The Bachelor of Applied Science in Hospitality Management at South Seattle Community College is a program designed to prepare students who have completed the Associate of Applied Science transfer degrees in Culinary Arts or Business Information Technology, for management, marketing and human resource positions in all facets of the hospitality industry, including tourism, hotel operation, restaurant management, catering, cruise ships, casino operations and travel. The Greater Puget Sound Chapter of HFTP has established the Heart of Hospitality Scholarship to honor one of South Seattle Community College’s exceptional hospitality students. The scholarship is awarded to a school-nominated student enrolled in the Bachelor of Applied Science in Hospitality Management, and is designed to cover a full year of tuition. CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2011 FareStart May 5, 2011 Great Food Better Lives. FareStart is a culinary job training and placement program for homeless and disadvantaged individuals. Named 2011 James Beard Foundation Humanitarian of the Year Raised $6,175 for FareStart
CHAPTER OF THE YEAR AWARD 2011 Holiday Party 2010 and Hygiene Drive for FareStart Members enjoyed our annual Holiday Party and generously donated soap, shampoo, toothpaste and other hygiene items to FareStart , our charity of choice.
