  3. Perche` si usa… • To express a hypothetical scenario: If a specific condition were to exist, something would happen. Per esempio: Se mia madre mi lasciasse andare al concerto, io vedrei i miei cantanti preferiti.

  4. Looking at the parts…. • Two components make up the periodo ipotetico: • The Conditional (present or past) • The Imperfect Subjunctive

  5. Imperfect Subjunctive=Congiuntivo Imperfetto • Similar to the regular imperfect, the imperfect subjunctive is conjugated by dropping parts of the infinitive suffix and adding new endings. • Do you remember what parts are dropped when we conjugate using the “regular” imperfect? • “re”

  6. Regular or Indicative imperfect vo, vi, va, vamo, vate, vano Imperfect Subjunctive ssi,ssi, sse, ssimo, ste, ssero What do we add?

  9. Pratica • Finisci queste frasi: • “Se io fossi piu` alta…..” • “Se io studiassi di piu` io……” • Adesso prova tu: dimmi una frase che usa il periodo ipotetico con se:

Attivita` • Con un compagno usate le domande date (sul foglio) e rispondete in maniera corretta esprimendo la vostra opinione. • ESEMPIO: Che cosa faresti se tu potessi ritornare al tuo primo anno? • Risposta: Io visiterei tutti i miei professori e direi loro:“grazie per tutto quello che avete fatto!”

  14. Pratica • Io volevo che noi (fare) alcune faccende di casa oggi. • Speravo che tu (stare) a casa oggi. • Temevo che tu e tua sorella non (dire) nulla a mio fratello. • Bastava che Luca (dare) un libro a tua sorella.
