  2. History of Hip hop • Hip hop is the culture from which rap emerged. Initially it consisted of four main elements; graffiti art, break dancing, dj. • Hip hop was first started in the Bronx whereas kool herc(Clive Campell) moved to west Bronx from Jamaica to incorporate Jamaican style of dejaying which involved reciting improved rhymes of reggae records. • He started dejaying at his first block party whereas he started shouting over the instrumental break which evoke the crowd, from then the party shouts became more elaborate. • At this time rap was not yet known as rap it was called emceeing, Rap a chance to freely express themselves, Rapping was a verbal skill that could be practiced and honed to perfection at almost anytime.
