  18. Timeline / Funding and Logistics • Statistics continue • this generation of young people with autism will be the first not to be in group homes and institutions by their teens • a child with autism needs approximately $120,000 worth of therapy a year, $1 million to transition successfully from home to school and $1 to $2 million to transition successfully from home to adulthood • services provided for a child typically cost 3X to 6X as much when applied to someone with autism, and many insurance policies still have exclusion clauses • in 1989, when Fawn was born, 6 children with autism attended public schools in Chicago; by 1993, 1,836 were in attendance (research shows also this increase is not due to higher level of testing leading to this diagnosis) • approximately $3 billion has been designated by Congress for programs, awareness, and treatment for autism • the United Nations just promised to fund $100 million this year for autism awareness, treatment, and research

  19. Timeline / Funding and Logistics • Projected Profit: • Expect 98% of the families in America with someone with autism to attend and bring a string of friends, neighbors, therapists*, sports coaches, teachers, assistants, ministers, youth groups, & community groups (a child with autism typically has 25 hours of therapy, doctors’, and specialized appointments in a week) • computation-- *represented expect higher $5 (matinee cost)* X 60%* X (14 million plus 35X50*%) = $735,000,000 (plus) gross • note: • while comedies are most popular during times of high stress, the top grossing movies ever made have been • “The Titanic” at just under $2 trillion • ”Harry Potter” has grossed $1.6 trillion • “Gone with the Wind” has brought in $75 billion • Hollywood profit for summer release movies was 6.7% higher than last summer, totaling to present over $7 billion during times of economic hardship and political upturn, people flock to movies for escape • *a low budget Horror film produced in Canada this year, costing $250,000; returned in 3 months $600,000 for European (alone) distribution • more amazing is “Paranormal Activity,” - made on a budget somewhere between $11,000 and $14,000 depending on reports--released October 2009--has grossed so far over $68,000,000! • before the summer films began in production, an international Italy-based film finance company offered a mere 2 weeks to release of investment; with control of funds in the hand of the producer to speed up production, versus a third part • corporations that are restoring profit by investing in film, include Bill Gates’ Microsoft, Meryl Lynch, Morgan Stanley, and Reliance of India

  20. Timeline / Funding and Logistics • Projected cost of this film: • $50 million* • cost on conservative end of film budgets (many highly successful this summer had 3 digit million dollar budgets) using one of the above actors; include transportation, accommodations for autism actor, and also PR gala at Egyptian Theater (one block from the Red Carpet (project generated under Letterman program supervision) • other events: • filmmakers alliance in Hollywood, media Summit in NYC, book about this movie to be released at time of film release, PR gala, commercials at races, Wallstreet chef event • (note: provides quick turnaround of investment at high return)

  21.
