Goal 1 Professional development • Continued work with LDC/MDC • (Literacy Design Collaborative/Math Design Collaborative) • ERZ Staff participating as Arkansas Trainers • Focus work for 2012-13 with Fort Smith Public Schools • Teacher visits in early October and early November • An approach to assist with the implementation of CCSS

CCSS Conferenceobjectives for Pre-service teachers • Gain a clearer understanding of the intent and purpose of the Common Core State Standards. • What CCSS means nationally • What CCSS means for the State of Arkansas • Create confidence in knowing where to go to seek CCSS information and whom to contact with questions regarding CCSS. • Increase awareness with available resources for classroom teachers to assist with CCSS implementation.

Goal 2Rigorous curriculum • National Science Bowl • Roberta Parks, Professor of Mathematics • Sponsored by U.S. Department of Energy • Open to junior high and high school teams • Competition Day – Saturday, Jan. 26th • Registration – Oct. 1st—Jan. 12th • Regional science bowl championship teams receive an all-expenses paid trip to compete at the national event in Washington, D.C. • http://science.energy.gov/nsb/
