  1. BED BUG INFORMATION This will give you some information regarding the latest problems with Bed bugs, their history, pictures, and control methods.

  2. Bed bug: Order Hemiptera • Usually an adult is 1/5 inch long; reddish-brown, flattened, oval and wingless.

  3. Habits • Bed bugs are found in homes, apartments, vehicles, public locations such as; hotels, trains, buses, cabs, cruise ships, planes, movie theaters, clothing stores, furniture stores and any other location that humanscome in contact with. Animals are also known to transport them from location to location as well.

  4. Diet • Bed bugs normally feed on humans with most activity occurring at night. Below are some pictures of bites from Bed bugs.

  5. Reproduction • Females deposit eggs normally 3 to 4 a day and up to 250 eggs in a lifetime. Eggs hatch 6 to 10 days later.

  6. Life Stages • Bed bugs have sixlife stages; fiveimmature and anadult stage. Theymust molt sixtimes before becoming a fertile adult.

  7. Location • What makes treatment difficult is that Bed bugs can be everywhere! They are not limited to bedding. You can find them on walls behind pictures, under furniture, couches, as well as clothing, warehouses, movie theaters, public transportation, and just about any other item including electronics and TV’s.

  8. Health Issues • Bed bugs do not transfer diseases. They do however bite and cause skin rashes.

  9. Detection • Bed bugs are elusive and usually nocturnal. They often lodge in dark crevices, and nestled in fabric seams such found on beds.

  12. Preventing Bed bugs • Since Bed bugs are becoming a large pest problem again, it is wise to take some steps in trying to prevent your home and belongings from being infested. • 1. Check all luggage and clothing if you travel on public transportation, including planes, ships, cabs, buses, rental cars, and trains.

Should your stay include a hotel, motel please double check the bedding areas including headboard. Elevate suitcases off the floor on a luggage stand.
