Program Goals • Facilitate active partnerships between user organizations and academia • Drive private-sector spending on R&D • Provide experiential learning to graduate students and PDFs to train for non-academic careers • Raise awareness of the expertise in Canadian universities and industry • Create receptor capacity among Canadian industry and not-for-profits

Building Research Collaborations Between Academia and Industry • Scalable, multidisciplinary projects • From $15,000 to $2M+ • Co-fund model: 1$ industry = 1$ Mitacs • All disciplines, all sectors • Match the R&D needs of a company to a grad student (Masters, PhD, Post-Docs) and his/her supervisor • Our flagship program!
Impact of Mitacs Accelerate • The majority of Mitacs activity supports small and medium-sized (SME) businesses: • 75% of companies are small-to-medium-sized enterprises • 66% hired by small-to-medium-sized enterprises

Accelerate International • Research collaborations between international companies and grad students, faculty at all the universities • $15K per project • 16–24 weeks (25% at home university) • All disciplines, no application deadlines
Globalink Research Internships (GRI) • Undergraduate students • 12 week summer research internships • 12,000+ applications and 2,250 research projects for ~1,000 places • Full cost of participation covered (airfare, accommodation, living stipend, prof. skills development workshops, student mentors, etc.)
Globalink Research Award (GRA) • University-University collaborations • $6K Research Grant • 12–24 week research project abroad • Supports the mobility of senior undergraduate and graduate students • Academic supervisor + host academic supervisor abroad • All disciplines, no application deadlines
Globalink Research Awards & MSCA RISE • Co-funding by Mitacs to participate in Research and Innovation Staff Exchanges (RISE), part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions • Graduate students and post-doctoral fellows in Canada may receive funding through the Mitacs Globalink Research Award, or through the Mitacs Accelerate International program • Conduct research projects at universities and businesses in the EU Member States
