  3. The Problem Owning a Pool Requires a lot of Work Traditional Chemical Test Methods are Imprecise Improper Pool Care could result in Eye and Skin Irritation Your Time is Valuable

  4. Project Overview • Create an automated Pool Chemical Regulation System. • Monitor both pH and ORP(Oxidation Reduction Potential) • Mechanically Add Chemicals to regulate the pool. • Give basic control and vital updates via web/Smartphone interface.

  5. Online Interface Data, Alerts Analog PH, ORP Signals, Temp Local Interface Sensors Microprocessor PH+, PH-, Sanitization Signals Dispensor

  6. ProjectBackground • Current Models Exist: • Mostly for the Commercial, Industrial and High End Residential • >$2000 • Our Goal • Create a system for the Residential Market • Use Solid Granulized Chemicals • Web/Smartphone based Controls and Updates • <$1000

  7. Project Market • United States • 5.1 million in-ground pools • 3.7 million above-ground pools • Canada • 404,000 in-ground pools • 253,000 above-ground pools • Large Market for our Product in North America alone.

  8. Design Intentions • Trust • Our customers must be able to rely on our product. • Transparency • The design must be simple to understand and operate • Stewardship • Proper use of time and resources • Integrity • End Product must meet customers need

  9. Project Status • Working with BUS 396 Team to develop Market Plan. • Taking Testing Data using pH and ORP probes • Developing Contacts with the physical plant dealing with Calvin’s Pool Maintenance • Selecting Mechanical System for Solid Chemical Dispersal • Testing/Developing Microchip Controller • Researching Wireless Website Update and Data Monitoring
